MY STORY
Entering aesthetics was not part of my career pathway!! I qualified as an Adult Branch Staff nurse in 2004 and loved working within Critical Care. This specialised interest led me to working within the theatre department, firstly as a scrub nurse and following completion of my Peri-Operative Care degree in 2009 I was able to work in Anaesthetics, Recovery and High Dependency. During this time I also worked as Lead Trainer for CardiAid; teaching Basic First Aid, CPR and how to use Automated External Defibrillators. This fitted in well with family life and I loved meeting new people and sharing my life saving knowledge.
Things took an unusual turn when during my third pregnancy I had severe Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD), which led to my joints moving unevenly to the point of being in a wheel chair. My body didn’t fully recover from this.
Following months of physiotherapy I finally returned to work at the hospital but it was too much. I was suffering with horrendous back and pelvis pain and I knew at this point things needed to change. A friend of mine recommended aesthetics when I had received a “tweakment’ from her. I decided to book onto a foundation course and the rest as they say is history.
Michelle Worthington Aesthetic Health (MWAH) started trading on 1st June 2018 and I have never looked back. Although sad to leave my NHS job I was now excited once again for the future, in a pain free career that I thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at. I started working from my conservatory, however, MWAH soon outgrew this space and I had building regulations accepted and my first clinic built January - March 2020.
Also in January 2020 I was approached by Cosmetic Courses to become a trainer. I accepted a post teaching on their foundation botox and dermal filler training courses in Birmingham and 1:1 sessions in Nottingham. It was an honour to be ‘head hunted’ after my injecting technique and knowledge stood out during my tear trough training day. I now have the best of both worlds, meeting new people sharing my knowledge and skills alongside running my busy clinic.
